forest is destroyed the biomass remains in the forest. After
a forest fire the ashes contain nutrients and then act as fertilizers
for the new growth. The charred tree trunks will remain in the
forest holding up the soil. However when clear cutting happens,
virtually all the biomass is taken out of the forest so the
habitats are gone. What is left behind in the clear cut is a
desert. It's just a devastating phenomenon."
